Richmond, KY, offers a host of fun spring activities for families. Whether you live in the area or frequently visit Richmond, mark your calendar for our favorite spring events.

1. Tasty Tuesdays

Every Tuesday night from April through September, Richmond hosts a free event with food trucks and live music. Tasty Tuesdays take place from 5 to 8 p.m. and feature a different local band each week along with a diverse variety of cuisine.

Just a few of the vendors participating include Speedy Garcia Mexican Food Truck, Cindy Lou Who’s Kettle Corn, The Chuck Wagon, and Little Donut Trailer. The town holds Tasty Tuesdays at Irvine McDowell Park at 345 Lancaster Avenue. You can park for free in the EKU Crabbe Street parking lot nearby while you sample favorites from some of Richmond’s best restaurants.

2. Park and Play

Also taking place at Irvine McDowell Park, this pop-up event emphasizes the positive impact of healthy outdoor activity and play on communities. Each free Park and Play session includes sports and fitness games, water activities, music, arts and crafts, karaoke, and other fun competitions.

The next session is June 9 from 1 to 3 p.m., with weekly sessions at different locations throughout June and July. It also includes Spray and Play, a one-hour visit from the fire department, who use their hoses to help the kids cool off.

3. Kids Fishing Derby

Kids ages 16 and younger can compete in this Kentucky Department of Fishing and Wildlife derby at Lake Reba Park from 8 to 10 a.m. The June 3 event is part of Richmond’s Free Fishing Weekend. You can enjoy refreshments from Texas Roadhouse and Travelin’ Toms Coffee Truck, both on hand at 299 Lake Reba Drive during the festivities.

4. Paradise Cove Opening Day

You can be one of the first at Paradise Cove Aquatic Center this season at this May 27 Opening Day event. This Richmond Parks and Rec facility has a large pool with an ADA lift, diving boards, and an aqua rock climbing wall, as well as a kid’s pool with a slide.

It also features several open swim areas, two 40-foot slides, and a family slide for multiple riders. Daily admission is just $9 for adults, $6 for teens, $6 for kids and seniors, and free for babies and toddlers younger than 3. Paradise Cove is located at 274 Lake Reba Drive, open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.

If you spend a lot of time outdoors in Kentucky, you need a rugged vehicle like the Toyota 4Runner. Stop by Toyota South today to check out this all-wheel-drive SUV in person.
