Big on Space and Easy on Gas. Meet the 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid
Three-row SUVs have a reputation for guzzling fuel, but the 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid flips that script. With up to 36 combined MPG on the standard hybrid and a turbocharged Hybrid MAX putting out 362 horsepower, families can haul everyone without dreading every trip to the pump.
- The standard hybrid powertrain pairs a 2.5-liter engine with electric motors for 245 horsepower and up to 36 combined MPG.
- Toyota offers seven trim levels ranging from the well-equipped LE to the fully loaded Hybrid MAX Platinum.
- Every trim seats up to seven or eight passengers and comes standard with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
Two Powertrains, Two Very Different Personalities
Toyota gives buyers a real choice under the hood. A standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder pairs with electric motors and a CVT, producing a combined 245 horsepower. It won’t pin you to your seat, but it gets the job done. Where it really pays off is at the pump, with front-wheel-drive XLE models hitting an EPA-estimated 36 combined MPG. Add all-wheel drive, and you’re still looking at 34 combined MPG.
Then there’s the Hybrid MAX. This one borrows its turbocharged 2.4-liter setup from the Lexus RX 500h and pairs it with a six-speed automatic instead of the CVT. You get a much punchier 362 horsepower that can push this big SUV from 0 to 60 in about 5.6 seconds. Fuel economy drops to 27 combined MPG with the MAX, but that’s still solid for a three-row SUV with this kind of power.
Breaking Down the Lineup
Toyota offers the 2026 Grand Highlander Hybrid across seven trims, and even the base LE comes loaded. Three-zone automatic climate control, seven USB-C ports, and a wireless phone charger are all standard. Moving up, the XLE adds powered heated front seats, a power liftgate, and a nine-speaker audio system. It’s the sweet spot for buyers who want comfort without pushing past $48,000.
Step into the Limited or Nightshade and you get leather seating, ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs, and a JBL 11-speaker audio system. Nightshade adds blacked-out exterior trim for a sportier look, and both ride on 20-inch wheels with front and rear parking sensors.
At the top, the Hybrid MAX Limited and Hybrid MAX Platinum are the only trims with the turbocharged powertrain. Platinum throws in a panoramic sunroof, a 10-inch head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, and paddle shifters.
| Trim | Powertrain | Horsepower | Combined MPG (Est.) | Starting MSRP |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hybrid LE (AWD) | 2.5L Hybrid | 245 hp | 34 MPG | $45,010 |
| Hybrid XLE (FWD) | 2.5L Hybrid | 245 hp | 36 MPG | $46,180 |
| Hybrid XLE (AWD) | 2.5L Hybrid | 245 hp | 34 MPG | $47,780 |
| Hybrid Limited (AWD) | 2.5L Hybrid | 245 hp | 34 MPG | $52,510 |
| Hybrid Nightshade (AWD) | 2.5L Hybrid | 245 hp | 34 MPG | $53,490 |
| Hybrid MAX Limited (AWD) | 2.4L Turbo Hybrid | 362 hp | 27 MPG | $55,490 |
| Hybrid MAX Platinum (AWD) | 2.4L Turbo Hybrid | 362 hp | 27 MPG | $59,575 |
Room for the Whole Crew (and Their Stuff)
The “Grand” in the name really does mean something. Compared to the regular Highlander, this one stretches about six inches longer, and most of that extra space goes right to the third row. Adults can actually sit back there without their knees touching their chest, which matters a lot more than you’d think on a long road trip.
Fold those rear seats down, and you open up 97.5 cubic feet of cargo space. That’s enough for furniture runs, camping gear, or a weekend’s worth of hockey equipment. You can also choose between captain’s chairs and a bench seat for the second row, depending on whether you prefer easier walk-through access or fitting an eighth passenger.

Tech and Safety That Comes Standard
Every 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which bundles pre-collision braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Upper trims add a 360-degree camera system and parking sensors with automatic braking, making a vehicle this size a lot easier to park.
Infotainment runs through a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. No fumbling with cables every time you hop in. Wireless phone charging and seven USB-C ports keep everyone’s devices topped off on longer trips.
Where the Value Sits in This Lineup
For most families, the Hybrid XLE with AWD is a smart pick at around $47,780 before destination fees. It comes with heated power seats, a nine-speaker audio system, wireless charging, and a power liftgate, all while returning 34 combined MPG. If you want leather and ventilated seats, the Limited at $52,510 is worth the jump. And if performance matters, the Hybrid MAX Limited gives you 362 hp starting at $55,490.

New 2026 Toyota C-HR Overview
The Electric C-HR Is Back, and It’s Faster Than You Think
Toyota’s bringing back the C-HR nameplate for 2026, but this time around, things are different. Really different. That quirky subcompact crossover that left American showrooms in 2022? It returns as an all-electric performer packing 338 horsepower, all-wheel drive, and a claimed 0-60 time of around five seconds. Yes, the same model that once crawled to 60 mph in over 11 seconds now gets there in about half the time.
- Dual electric motors deliver 338 combined horsepower with all-wheel drive included on every model for quick acceleration.
- A 74.7-kWh battery provides an EPA-estimated 290 miles of range with DC fast charging capability.
- Both SE and XSE trims come loaded with tech, including a 14-inch touchscreen and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.
What Makes the C-HR Different This Time
That original C-HR had wild styling but suffered from sluggish acceleration and limited visibility. Toyota took those criticisms to heart. This 2026 model keeps that coupe-like silhouette but adds meaningful improvements. It measures five inches longer and about two inches wider, translating to more interior space.
Two electric motors replace that old four-cylinder engine, with one up front and one in back. Together, they generate 338 horsepower and send torque to all four wheels. Toyota estimates this setup will launch the C-HR to 60 mph in approximately five seconds—a massive jump from the old model’s 11-second sprint.
Quick Reference Chart
| Specification | Details |
|---|---|
| Powertrain | Dual electric motors (front and rear) |
| Total Output | 338 horsepower combined |
| Drivetrain | All-wheel drive (included on all trims) |
| Battery Capacity | 74.7 kWh |
| EPA Range | Up to 290 miles |
| 0-60 mph | Approximately 5 seconds (manufacturer estimate) |
| Charging Port | NACS (compatible with Tesla Superchargers) |
| DC Fast Charging | 10-80% in around 30 minutes |
| Available Trims | SE, XSE |
| Base Price | SE starts at $38,450; XSE starts at $40,450 |
| Seating Capacity | 5 passengers |
| Cargo Space | 25.4 cubic feet behind rear seats |
| Wheelbase | 108.3 inches |
| Overall Length | 177.9 inches |
Range and Charging That Actually Works
One area where the C-HR stands out is its charging setup. Toyota equipped this thing with a NACS port, which means you can plug in at any Tesla Supercharger across the country. That’s thousands of fast-charging stations right out of the gate.
Battery capacity hits 74.7 kWh, delivering an EPA-estimated 290 miles on a full charge. DC fast charging gets you from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes under good conditions. Regenerative braking comes with paddle shifters on the steering wheel, letting you select from four different levels to convert kinetic energy back into battery charge.

Inside the Cabin
Toyota made serious upgrades to the interior. That dashboard features a tiered design with a 14-inch touchscreen, horizontal air vents, and a floating center console. The digital instrument cluster sits recessed behind the steering wheel.
Both trims come with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. SE models ride on 18-inch wheels with cloth and synthetic leather upholstery, rain-sensing wipers, and a power liftgate. XSE adds 20-inch wheels, SofTex with synthetic suede, and an optional two-tone roof. Both offer dual wireless charging pads and an available nine-speaker JBL audio system. Rear passengers get USB Type-C ports and decent legroom, while split-folding rear seats expand cargo capacity beyond 25.4 cubic feet.
Safety Features Come Included
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 comes on every C-HR, bundling forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-centering steering, lane departure alert, road-sign recognition, and automatic high beams. Blind spot monitors, cross-traffic alert, parking sensors with automatic braking, and Toyota’s Proactive Driving Assist system round out the package.
How It Stacks Up Against Competitors
Electric subcompact crossovers have gotten crowded fast. Hyundai Kona Electric, Kia Niro EV, Chevrolet Equinox EV, and Volvo EX30 all compete for similar buyers. C-HR’s 338 horsepower puts it near the top of the class, and that sub-five-second 0-60 time matches or beats most rivals. Range-wise, 290 miles lands squarely in the middle of the pack. Where the C-HR pulls ahead is styling—this thing doesn’t look like anything else on the road.
Pricing starts at $38,450 for the SE trim, which undercuts some competitors while matching others. XSE at $40,450 brings enough extra features to justify the jump. Both prices position the C-HR competitively when you factor in AWD on every model and Toyota’s reputation for reliability.
Colors and Availability
Both trims offer five exterior colors, including two new options: Overcast and Tandoori. Rounding out the palette are Cement, Midnight Black Metallic, and Wind Chill Pearl (premium option). XSE buyers can add two-tone combinations that pair select colors with a Midnight Black Metallic roof.
Expect the 2026 Toyota C-HR to arrive at dealerships by mid-2026. Toyota hasn’t announced a specific on-sale date yet. C-HR will be built in Japan and shipped to North America, so availability might be limited at first as production ramps up.
Worth the Wait
Toyota took its time bringing the C-HR back to America, and that patience paid off. That old gas-powered model had potential but fell short in execution. This electric version addresses those shortcomings with 338 horsepower, 290 miles of range, and a modern interior. Starting price sits in a sweet spot for the segment, and AWD on every model adds year-round capability. If you’ve been waiting for an electric crossover that doesn’t sacrifice style or driving fun, the C-HR needs serious attention.

Gearing Up for Bud Gates Bike Drive 2026
Assembling Bikes, Building Community
Each spring, something remarkable happens behind the showroom doors at Toyota South. Workbenches are rolled out, wrenches are handed off like batons, and an assembly line starts clicking into motion. The mission is to build a bike for every car sold in May. The recipients are local foster children who might never forget the day they received their very own bike, and the people who built it just for them.
As we look ahead to the 2025 Bud Gates Bike Drive, excitement is already building.
A Tradition Rooted in Heart
The Bud Gates Bike Drive began as a tribute to the late Bud Gates, founder of Toyota South and a man deeply committed to serving his community. His son, Steve Gates, now carries that legacy forward, transforming what began as a thoughtful gesture into a full-scale annual event with a huge impact.
What started with fewer than 100 bikes has now become a signature tradition. Over the last decade, more than 1,000 new bikes and helmets have been assembled and delivered to foster children throughout the Richmond and Lexington area. These are not secondhand donations. Each bike is brand new, carefully constructed, test-ridden, and fitted with a matching helmet before it’s handed off to a waiting child.
Precision, Toyota Style
The drive’s most notable feature is its assembly process. We’re talking about one that mirrors the sophistication of Toyota’s own manufacturing lines. Volunteers from the Georgetown Toyota Plant, including members of the Toyota Christian Fellowship, transform our dealership into a bustling bike-building operation. Parts are laid out. Roles are assigned. With efficiency that would make any engineer proud, the bikes come together one by one.
Roughly 20 plant employees make up the core of the build team, but they’re far from alone. Our entire sales team jumps in to help, organizing helmets, greeting families, making final adjustments, and handing each bike to a child.
One Day, Hundreds of Smiles
The real magic happens in June, when foster families arrive to pick up their bikes. It all happens in one day, build to hand off. The energy is hard to describe. There are no press events, no flashy announcements. Just kids picking out their favorite color, parents and guardians smiling with gratitude, and volunteers quietly beaming behind the scenes.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As we prepare for the 11th Bud Gates Bike Drive, we do so with gratitude for the children who trust us to show up, for the foster families who do so much with so little, and for the volunteers who make this event possible year after year.
There’s no need for a flashy call-to-action or big campaign. The Bud Gates Bike Drive has always been about people, not promotion. If you’re a customer, a neighbor, a foster parent, or a Toyota team member, you’re already part of this story. If you’ve been with us on this journey, thank you.
We’ll be back in May. The bikes will be ready, and the joy will be just as real as ever.
A Tradition of Giving That Keeps Growing
For seven years, Toyota South’s Secret Families has become one of the most meaningful traditions in Madison County. It began in Indiana, where our Toyota of Muncie dealership hosted this event for over 15 years, serving over 400 families. Now, we’ve adopted this wonderful tradition at Kentucky locations, where it has grown over the past seven years.
What started as a simple idea, to help local families who need a little extra support during the holidays, has grown into a full community effort powered by volunteers, local partners, and the team at Gates Auto Family and Toyota South’s Secret Families.
In 2025, Secret Families is returning once again, and this year’s goal is the biggest yet.
How Secret Families Works
Every season, the Madison County Schools Office of Family Resources shares a list of the families in the greatest need. Volunteers then contact each family to learn what would make their holiday a little brighter, specific wish list items for parents, kids, and teens. In the week leading up to delivery, any family that asks receives a Christmas tree, thanks to Lowe’s generosity.
Then comes the big day.
On one Saturday in December, volunteers gather at Meijer long before the store opens. Meijer welcomes the group inside early and helps wherever they can, from providing staff to assisting with discounts. Each family receives $550 worth of gifts, thoughtfully selected based on their individual requests. It’s a busy, joyful whirlwind of carts, lists, and teamwork.
After the shopping trip wraps up, the event moves to Toyota South, where the service shop transforms into a full wrapping headquarters. Stations pop up across the space, volunteers tape and tie bows as fast as they can, and the room fills with music, laughter, and plenty of holiday excitement. Once everything is wrapped, the teams deliver the gifts directly to each home. Families are also blessed with trees donated by Silvercliff Landscaping.
Last year, 73 families were served. In 2025, the goal is 100. Over the past seven years, Secret Families has supported more and more families. That’s an incredible milestone made possible by the generosity of our community and the personal contributions from Mr. Gates.
Why Toyota South Hosts This Event
Secret Families is something Toyota South looks forward to all year. We proudly host the event and provide the space to make it possible. Giving back to the community is at the heart of who we are, and Secret Families is one of the most meaningful ways they can make a difference during the holidays.
The team sees firsthand how much joy and relief this brings to families. Parents who weren’t sure whether they’d have gifts to give now have presents wrapped and ready. Kids who expected very little wake up to items they truly wanted. Families who might have spent the day worrying instead get to celebrate together.
It’s hard not to feel the impact of that.
How You Can Get Involved in 2025
This year’s goal of serving 100 families is exciting, but it also means Secret Families needs more help than ever. On average, 50–60 volunteers come out each year, but hitting this year’s goal will take more hands, more shoppers, more wrappers, and more drivers.
Donations are also essential. With $550 spent per family, last year’s event required more than $40,000 in community support. The goal this year means we need to raise over $55,000 between what Mr. Gates donates and community donations. Every contribution directly impacts how many families can be added to the list.
Learn how to donate or sign up to volunteer at Toyota South. Whether you want to give time, resources, or both, there’s a place for you at Secret Families.
