2022 Toyota Corolla Cross
The Corolla Cross is a new addition to Toyota's SUV lineup. This new compact crossover sits between the C-HR and the RAV4 and rides on the new TNGA-C platform. When you look at this new Toyota from the outside, it doesn't share many features with the Corolla, but it borrows many of the familiar elements on the inside. Take a look at the new 2022 Corolla Cross.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Corolla Cross L comes with LED headlights and 17-inch steel wheels. Stepping up to the LE gets you 17-inch silver alloy wheels, roof rails, and the option for a moonroof, while the XLE comes with 18-inch alloy wheels and LED daytime running lights. The XLE also offers the option for a moonroof, and a power liftgate is also available.
Engine (Power)
Power for the Corolla Cross comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 169 horsepower and gets 151 pound-feet of torque. It uses a continuously variable automatic transmission that Toyota designed with intelligence and shift mode, and it comes with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is available for any Corolla Cross trim level and comes with Dynamic Torque Control. This system will send up to half of the power to the rear wheels when needed. If it's not needed, it disengages, so just the front wheels get power to help with fuel economy.
Performance
This new Toyota provides a smooth ride over any road, and the engine has plenty of power whether you are driving around town or getting up to speed on the highway. The multi-link rear suspension optimizes ride quality, and the all-wheel-drive system senses when you need more traction to keep you from slipping.
Interior
Inside, the two rows of seats in the Corolla Cross provide seating for five. The rear seat has a 60/40 split, so you can adjust the amount of passenger space and cargo space as needed. With the rear seat in place, you'll have 26.5 cubic feet of cargo space. Cloth upholstery comes standard, and if you bump up to the XLE, it adds heated front seats and simulated leather upholstery. This top trim also comes with a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat and dual-zone automatic climate control.
The base Corolla Cross comes with a 7-inch touch screen, a 4.2-inch information display for the driver, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. Stepping up from the base to LE and XLE adds wireless charging and two extra USB ports for the rear-seat passengers. These trims also replace the 7-inch touch screen with a larger 8-inch one.
Safety Features
Every Corolla Cross comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 Suite of advanced driver aids. It includes automatic high beam headlights, automatic emergency braking, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, a lane-departure warning system with steering assist, and road sign assist. It also has a lane tracing assist system that helps you stay centered in the road when using the adaptive cruise control by using the lines on the road and the vehicles around you.
